About Me

My name is Jackson Curtis and I am a young statistician and wanna-be scientist. I graduated BYU with a masters degree in statistics (minor in computer science). The purpose of this blog is to explore ideas around statistical reasoning, decision-making, data modeling, and the connection between data and the real world.

My blogging role model is Andrew Gelman, a Bayesian political scientist teaching at Columbia University (https://statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/). He has blogged almost every day for the past twenty years. While not every post is a home run (most are short and some are very random), his willingness to spend time writing, thinking, and engaging about important topics is inspiring to me. While I'll never match him in sheer output, I hope to be similarly engaged and thoughtful. If you have thoughts about a blog post, ideas for a new one, or statistical questions you'd like to discuss, don't hesitate to reach out on LinkedIn, Twitter, or through the comments.

Professionally I work at Podium as a data scientist. Previously I did market research consulting on the Advanced Analytics team at Qualtrics.

I live in Orem, Utah with my wife, Monica.
